6 Word Story – 6 Shot Video Lesson
Goal
Create a Six Word Story and produce that story into a 6 shot video.
Stories told in just six words.
Brevity is a virtue.
This is a collection of short short stories consisting of just six words. It was inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s famous challenge.
Six Word Stories will be the basis for your 6 shot video.
To help begin your research, look into these Six Word Story websites.
Objective
You will tell the story of YOU in just 6 shots. No two shots can be alike; in other words, you must use 6 different shots from 6 different angles. Every edit must be from a different distance. Every shot should be from a different location. Your grade will be marked down for 2 shots in a row that are the same/similar.
Possible camera angles
Be “creative” in how your stories are told. Every good story has a beginning, middle and end. Within the variety of shots, consider how many others in that exact same situation would shoot that part of the story in the exact same way. Be different! Use color and light to your advantage. And don’t settle on the first thought EVERYBODY would assume. Dare to be DIFFERENT! You may use the Green Screen technique to change your background if you’d like.
Brainstorm as many ideas as you can in 15 minutes. Start now.
Audio
You may use voiceover narration of your 6 words, royalty-free music, NAT Sound and any other audio you wish to help tell your story.
Video length
Each shot must be no less than 3 seconds and no longer than 5 seconds. Therefore the total length of your video will be :18-:30 seconds (since you must have 6 different shots.)
EXAMPLES:
Here are some video examples of finished products that other students have completed. BEFORE you view these, make sure you have your six word memoir written. http://lhstv.weebly.com/6-word-stories---6-shot-videos.html
