This week, students were introduced to their Headline News Project which will air as our very FIRST Good Morning Mustangs broadcasts hopefully the first week in October. Can't wait to get back on air. We will be broadcasting Monday, Wednesday and Friday this year to allow more time for students gather more quality news and stories in the GMM broadcasts. Look for the broadcasts to be posted right here on our GMM website.
Before they could start to look for the six news stories to include in their broadcast, they had to complete Quickfire #2 which made them look at the following three websites to determine whether they were credible sources or NOT. At the end of the hour, we revealed which were credible sources and talked about why or why not. They need these skills to help them choose their news stories that they will broadcast on Good Morning Mustangs.
Can you determine which websites are real and valid?
Ask your student to reveal which are real and which are not.
Website #1: http://www.dhmo.org/
Website #2: http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/
Website #3: https://backyardbrains.com/
Only four out of our 28 students guessed correctly on all three websites!
But now, we know what to look for as find reliable and research supported articles and new stories. Students have been given a list of questions they can refer back to that will help them identify whether a website is reliable or not.
